Snow storm

It was a windy night and snowed quite hard. We are three boats tied up together and had to get up several times to add more shore lines. It was cold work getting to shore, putting wires around the rocks and pulling out the wet lines. In the morning everything was covered in snow. However some washing stayed on the lines all night and was dry by the morning! Everywhere we go we have instructions to avoid going to close to the penguins. They have no similar instructions, this is a Chilean base and the penguins clearly think they are in charge with their nests right up to the walls of the cabins and they do not like to give way to people who want to walk back and forth.

Anoche hacían bastante viento y nieve. Estamos tres veleros amarrados juntos. Necesitabamos despertarnos unos veces para poner mas sogas a la playa. El trabajo fue muy frío: poner cables de acero por las rocas y traer las sogas empapadas del barco. Por la mañana todo tuvo una manta de nieve. Unas ropas mojadas quedó por la linea, y fueron secas. Tenemos direcciones que no molestar los pingüinos. No tienen los mismos direcciones. Esta un base Chileno pero los pingüinos obviamente piensen que son en cargo. Sus nidos alcanzan las paredes de las cabañas y no les gustan dar paso a los seres humanos que quieren van y ven.
